Spirit Play
Spirit Play is modeled after Jerome Berryman's Godly Play method. Godly Play was adapted by Dr. Nita Penfold, Beverly Leute Bruce, and the Rev. Ralph Roberts for our Unitarian Universalist children. Spirit Play allows children to make meaning of their lives through the container of Unitarian Universalism. (adapted from Spirit Play Training CD 2006)
Lessons begin with The Flaming Chalice story and progress through each of the 7 principles (called promises for our Spirit Play children) of our UU faith. We then branch out into stories about Love and the Mystery that some people call God. Stories are also drawn from our varied sources and other faith traditions. Many of the stories we'll use in our KUUF Spirit Play class are based upon children's literature. Some of the stories will be unique to KUUF because we choose to write our own stories and because we want to teach children the stories that make KUUF special.

Spirit Play Schedule
Spirit Play will begin on Sunday, September 7, 2008.
Each week, children at the Kitsap Unitarian Universlist Fellowship will begin Sunday with their families in worship service at 9:30 am. Spirit Play children are "sung out" of the service to meet the Doorkeeper and walk up to room 5 in the religious education building. Spirit Play concludes when the 9:30am service is over (~10:45-10:55 am) when parents should plan to pick up their children at the outside door to room 5.
